gracefully graying

28.2.13

There are days in which I feel a bit old.  I think, I'm a third way through my life,  I notice a new gray hair, or when my knee aches when I workout.

I know to many of you (who are older than me) this may sound just mad.  To those younger may think,  "Yeah Anna, you are getting older."

Well, my mama grayed at an early age.  I may follow her foot steps.  She used to dye, but then ended up embracing it.  She looks great and in her mid-50s has a beautiful head of white hair.  I like to think I will gracefully gray like her.  But who knows how I will feel about all those wily gray hairs in 10 years.

Gray hairs remind me that I need to keep my priorities straight and live life the way I really want to.  It reminds me that life is short. It makes me think about all the fantastic things I have already done/accomplished in my life and how much more I would like to experience.  At the same time, it reminds me to concentrate on the now. Not hoping for the future or wishing for the past, but making right now the time that really matters.

So here's to graying gracefully and living intentionally in the now.

Cheers,

Anna

What reminds you to live in the now?

  2. I love all the messages our body has for us – if we'll just listen. My trick for living in the now, particularly when I'm stressed, is to think "What is the exact problem right this second?" Usually there is none. It's usually just a worry about the future or what could happen.

    Love your style!

    1. Kathleen,

I appreicate your thoughts on this! It's true. Often we don't really have to worry as much as we do.

      Thanks.

  3. Such thoughts mostly come around when birthday is near and one gets older. What I tell myself then is: hey, would you really go back to be 22 again? No. Life's more releaxed and easier when getting to a certain age. But I agree with the hair, that's no fun. I dye. :)

    1. It's true. I wouldn't really rather be 22 again.

It is nice to reflect on how far I have come and what the future holds for us.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
