where we do our cooking.
Our kitchen is in our one room flat.  Luckily the toilet has it's own 4meter square space.

I decided to post photos of our kitchen because it is beautiful.  We do a lot of cooking.  Sometimes from scratch, other times from boxes...  It's a delight to have someone to cook with and for.  We eat a lot of garlic and onions.  So you must just imagine how we always smell, the delicious odor of onions permeates through every one of our belongings.  Lingering in our clothes closets, little hints of last nights dinner in our comforters... It's the wonderful thing about living all of home life in one room.  Haha.  This is actually the only thing that is a bit of a bother in our tiny space.

Here is our kitchen before we began working on it....

 Before
After

We thought that these jars were great. They are from Ikea.  We needed more storage for food and they were pretty so we decided to use the space above the cupboards as pretty storage.  Dominik grinds fresh coffee every morning for us.. I sure hope this lasts the rest of life.

Below:
We are deplaying some of our beautiful mugs, and making our daily ones more accessible.
The tin ones are from thailand, they are wonderful for cold drinks.  They get really cold to your touch which makes the beverage double refreshing in summer.

 Before

After

Well this is the first section of our before and after of our flat.  It is wonderful to live in such a warm space and to have the wedding gift money to make a lovely little home!

enjoyment

I've been thinking a whole lot about enjoyment recently.   I've been enjoying a whole lot in life these days.  I haven't started work or classes yet.  I've had the leisure of listening to records.

Finishing books.  This was a wonderful book.  It was strange to have my mind in Africa for a month.  The book made me think a whole lot about westernization.  Modernization in general and whether it has really been progress for the west.  It's strange for us to think that we are higher than some other civilization that lives on the land.  It rocked my mind for a while and It has been hard to find a follow up book.  So I picked up one of my college reads.  "The Photograph as Contemporary Art"  It has been inspiring and thoughtful and makes me miss studying art.

Sunday I went on an adventure on my own.  To a Flohmart (flea market).  I've been enjoying the little things in life.  Beautiful old women at the train station etc...

I didn't know that the Flohmart would include a carnival.  I creepily enjoyed people enjoying the rides.  I stood there photographing pretending that I belonged to someone on the ride or hiding behind signs to get shots of their enjoyment.

This ride was called Break Dancer!!! haha.  Even carnival rides are becoming cool and hip in their names... I loved this one...

The flea market was good. I bought a scarf for a Euro, and some old postcards.  But here are a few of my favorite trinkets, treasures and stalls.

I love the lights in the letters of the signs.  They have a beautiful aesthetic about them.

This was the little car ride.  This guy below was serious about driving his car on a track...

If I could have chosen one to ride this would be the one!

This lady was not enjoying herself at the carnival.

Again I've been thinking about enjoyment.  True enjoyment and cheap enjoyment.  I've been talking to Dominik about it and we were saying that when we go trying to go on from one delight to the next trying to numb and find our purpose in them, it is empty.  I know times when I am just trying to fill the time with fun, moving from one fun thing to the next.  Thankfully, I have been enjoying God through little delights with a thankful heart.  Delighting in beauty and others.  I think that is the difference.
Regular things beautiful.
I've been inspired by things just around me and noticing their beauty.  Above is a polaroid...  3 of our new plant with Dominik's animal figurine collection interacting with it.  This has been the most inspirational sight to me as of late.  These silly animals and how they look next to the plants.

I haven't used my polaroid camera in over a year.  The outer two in this photo came out of the camera together like unidentical twins (fraternal).  They sort of look like mountains so I made a little landscape of them.  The middle one worked out but it was our of focus. whoops...  The background is one of the blanket covers that I made for our bed out of material that we used for one of ties in the wedding.

Below is a photo of our bathroom mats drying in the sun.  I thought it was beautiful so I snapped a memory.
that's it for now just a baby post... tease
