"Landes Bier": Beer Country: 4th Edition
"Landes Bier"-is a little series about beer tastings.  Many of you know I live in Germany, I'm not a native to this land, I am a newcomer.  Germany prides itself on its beer, like many other lands.  I have been trying to know some local beers.  I am no beer expert and I don't know any of the proper beer tasting terms, however I am trying my hardest to explain, for myself and you, what the experience of this beer is.

Klosterhof-  Heidelberg    Helles.

This is a lovely refreshing beer.  It is mild and fleeing.  The initial taste is lovely and sharp and then it fades very quickly.  There is little to no aftertaste, which is strange for my most recent tastings.  It drinks like a spring. It is smooth and thirst quenching.

Dominik visited this "Kloster Brauerei" Monastery Brewery with some friends last Saturday as I worked.  It was jealous and should have sent the camera with him, he said it was really beautiful and very interesting. He tasted some wonderful beers.  He brought me back a 6 variety pack.  My husband knows me so well.

Their website shares details about their beer, activities they are involved in and how to order and get hold of their brews.  It is totally organic, and does taste like it.

I could imagine drinking this lovely beer on a hillside in the grass and sun, enjoying the summer breeze blow my hair.  That is where this lovely "helles"  light beer would be best.

Thanks for reading and hearing my silly attempts as describing my beer tastings.

Today I am tasting, Leikeim's "Original Steinbier"  Stone Beer

Tagline:  "Geschaffen durch Feuer und Stein"   Created by Fire and Stone.

It tingles the tip of your tongue on first contact, then is crawls into the rest of your mouth filling it with a rich, full flavor.  Not too full like a meal but filling with flavor.

After the 3rd or 4th sip it really has a numbing sensation over my tongue.  I am glad I am not eating any thing with it.  I think it is a stand alone beer, without a meal, or nuts.

It has a refreshing taste though it is full.  I think it is the perfect beer for just before spring.  It is like a warmer weather version of a dunkel. haha

I would recommend it but only for the seasons like right now, between winter and spring, or maybe a fall beer.  But not really a summer beer.

Well I hope you could differentiate some of this nonsense.  I hope that you are tasting some good brews these days.

Other than beer tasting.  I have just been hanging out with my husband, and working in the shop.

Thanks for reading

"Viele Gruße aus Deutschland"  Many greetings from Germany.

oh here are....Some of my other alcohol related posts....  Here
"Landes Bier": Beer Country: 2nd Edition: A very Wakeman kind of day.

On tuesday I had a very wakeman day.   A Vancouver Washington wakeman kind of day...Thanks giving is just around the corner I suppose they are on my mind and in my memory from this season.   I was photographing film photographs by Miranda (they are beautiful,I will post them soon!) ,  I was tasting beer (making me want to taste uncle wally's most recent), crocheting, wearing some of Liz's knitted socks, and wearing a beautiful pair of Joel Wakeman original earrings!

Paul Bräu-Brewery
Stolz des Kraichgaus- Proud of the Kraichgau- tag line
Export-name of beer

Handwerklich gebraut mit Eppinger Goldgeste

Fresh.  full, sweet, a hint of a fruity after taste, which lingers for some time.  It covers your tongue making it warm.  Makes your head warm after a couple sips almost like drinking whiskey...

A full refreshing beer.  A tad sweet after.

I am by no means a beer expert.  I have very little knowledge of beers.  I am just recording ones that I have intentionally tasted and trying to figure out which ones I like the most here in Germany.

Here are the lovely socks by Aunt Liz.
And some earring shots from Joel Wakeman. These earrings make me feel very woodsy, pretty with a hint of dirt. My favorite kind of pretty.   Check out his website here .  Joel you make me want to live in America so that you can make all of our furniture!  Beautiful work.  I want to see some of you more recent stuff up soon!

Oh and another good reason to have a husband is so he can cut your hair.  I have a lovely new trim from my very own husband's handy work!!! pretty good hey?

Dominik and I went to the "Drink Market" around the corner from our house.  We bought a crate of beers that we have never tried.  A variety pack from the Drink Market man.   He lead us around the market with a crate recommending various beers.  I am interested in knowing what beers taste like and knowing what I like...  The first we tried was the.

"Dachsenfranz"  "Die erfrischende Kraft der Natur"-The Refreshing Power of Nature is the brewery.
- Waldpils- Forest Pilsner- the flavor

 Frisch &Herb- Fresh and Bitter

This beer was lovely...  it was fresh but it had a hint of girth... can you have a hint of girth.   It was refreshing, light, but very tasty.  Something I would want to drink on a hot day hunting.  Waiting  in the forest on a hot summer day for that deer to pass by.  This beer reminds me of my friend Jonathan Steele.  A very refreshing, but a hint of manly, girth...

I made some maple walnut muffins today for our game and whiskey evening tonight.  I was fun to make muffins.  My first time baking muffins ever!  I had a classic Haus Frau- House Wife day today which was lovely, but a little bit tedious (laundry and the store, you know.)   I am having a lovely transition into married life though. I have very little to complain about...

I hope you have a lovely weekend!!!
